Background

North Pittsburgh Telephone, a local utility company wanted to reduce company-wide expenses without cutting personnel. They were printing and mailing their own invoices and sought savings in equipment. After discovering that they were not saving much with new or used equipment they explored outsourcing their printing and mailing department.

North Pittsburgh Telephone wanted a vendor with great customer service whose employees were willing to learn their process and convert it into an actionable in-house format. They wanted a company that had the experience to meet their demanding turn around time, be cost effective and care about their problems.

Through frequent site visits to both operations, Pittsburgh Mailing worked with the North Pittsburgh Telephone's data department and ran several data tests prior to starting the print job. Several parallel data runs were conducted to work out cross system bugs. In addition, Pittsburgh Mailing took extra steps by purchasing the customer's inserting equipment so they would not be worried about payment or trying to get out of the contract. In fact, Pittsburgh Mailing even hired their operator to make the transition run smoothly and without missing a beat.
